I’m sat here in Rough Trade in Bristol killing time and writing some words after an eight-day week at work and I remember that the new track from London four-piece Triple Sundae is very much out in full force. The band’s brand of melodic 90’s-esque, contemporary Gruff-Punk appreciating honest music is something many have been waiting for more of since the excellent Peace Of Mind EP. If that is a release you’ve missed, stop now, go forth, listen, ponder your feelings on it and then come back.
Back now? Excellent. ‘Pollution’ is instantly laden with sharp hooks that latch on, replace your own and annex your line, sinker and entire musicality rod before you can really ascertain what’s happened and that’s the honest reaction I had to this. Triple Sundae aren’t the hardest or fastest in the most obvious sense but the subject on the line (not the one they annexed but the one in public use) is very much of a hard, serious and sadly intrinsic nature.
Pollution is a dirty word but an important one in more ways than one. ‘Pollution’ is a track lamenting indirectly to a simpler time but also directly accosting the listener about the subservience we have to mental pollution and distraction via the way modern shit-ciety has gone and how social media and other constant external pressures never allow us the slightest bit of rest.

and constant distractions
Reality loosens,
Leads to subconscious destruction.
I need to practice moderation,
to overcome compulsion.’
This “life-punk” on offer would be nothing without the stellar stylistic backing however. Triple Sundae have crafted a mature Pop-Punk song set with hard crunching Punk-Rock stylistics onset with a playful approachability set somewhere between the two. This is delivered with the obvious and welcome (relatively) slow-ebb Triple Sundae refrains and sing-a-longs you come to expect and they are as unambiguously solid as ever.
